There are two elements to sight adjustment: windage and elevation. Sometimes you have to walk the strike of the bullet all over the place before you get what you want. Kneecaps and nutsack may suffer before you put a tight group between his runnin' lights.
I wouldn't mind it they winged him a few times before they get the windage right.
