Fleet Week Drops Anchor In Manhattan
(New York -WABC, May 25, 2005) — The U.S. Navy is inviting the city on-board for fleet week. It's an annual rite of spring, with flyovers, 21 gun salutes and a parade of ships up the Hudson River.
It started at 9:00 a.m. this morning when the ships passed under the Verrazano Narrows Bridge.
From there they headed north to the George Washington [Bridge]. But along the way they'll pay special tribute as they pass the World Trade Center.
