We're doomed ...

It's all over but the crying in Wisconsin:

Republican Gov. Scott Walker has won the Wisconsin governor’s recall over Democratic Milwaukee Mayor Tom Barrett, holding onto his job after his push to slash collective bargaining rights for public employees sparked intense statewide backlash.

...

This is the news I woke up to and my first reaction is that I'm pissed and disappointed. The ramifications of this are far-reaching and will have deleterious effect on our system for a long time.

You can thank Citizens United and the Kochsuckers. The Dems picked up a state senate seat so it'll be harder for Walker to shove through any more of his fascist shit. After he's indicted (from my lips to DOJ's ears, and they have plenty of them) that Kleefisch'll be goobernator and she's a dummy.

The Marines lost at Wake Island too, but the fight was just beginning. No shame in a defeat as long as you fought as hard as you could. They made up for it. We will too.

Well, you could argue that this is a case of "better to die on your feet than live on your knees." Maybe the fact that the unions and the Dems put up a hell of a fight, even though they lost, will mean that Walker & his little pals will think twice before engaging in any further shenanigans.

I do think Repubs have the bully mentality, and giving them a bop in the snout (figuratively speaking), even though you lose the fight might mean they'll think twice next time about trying to run over you.

I just hope the Dems and unions continue the fight against Walker with whatever other means they have at their disposal, and make the rest of his term a nice hard uphill slog.

One thing which makes me laugh and pisses me off at the same time is that many people in Wisconsin apparently voted for Walker because they thought a recall is "uncivil," unless it's about removing a governor "for cause."

Well, that certainly didn't bother the Repubs out here when they ginned up a recall against Gov. Davis, simply because they didn't like him--and stuck us with an action-movie actor (and we know how that worked out). Just a case of the old Repub double standard, I guess...

And so the good people of Wisconsin get the government the bad people deserve and that the evil people outside the state paid for. I suppose until we sink far enough to understand at the gut level of why our ancestors took up arms against their government, this is the kind of shit we get.

I'll admit it. This shit crushed a dream of mine. (time to clean the guns I guess)

I felt just as bad this morning as I did the Wednesday morning after election day 2004.

I think a bop in the snout, literally speaking, would be good for the soul of the nation. Beat the ever-lovin' crap out of 'em and repeat as necessary.
