It's Enough to Make you Feel All Warm 'n' Fuzzy.....
Are you on this list?

Quote of the Day
Go read Daddy Frank:
Pretty hard for McCain to run from Bush with his feet barely stickin' out of Bush's ass...
McCain Can Run, but Bush Won’t Hide

Pinball Wizard
A little different take on the the same subject as Fixer's post, i.e. our National Embarrassment.
ABC News
BuzzFlash put it a little more succinctly:
The deaf dumb and blind kid sure plays a mean pinball.
Go watch Bush in action just finding the pinball machine, my metaphor for 'couldn't find his ass with both hands' AKA 'running the country'. Thank God he didn't have a rubber hammer! He'da wrecked the joint!
Oops. He already did wreck the joint. My bad.
My most sincere apologies to Roger Daltrey and deaf dumb and blind kids.

President Bush lectured the Arab world Sunday about everything from political repression to the denial of women's rights but ran into Palestinian complaints he is favoring Israel in stalled Mideast peace talks. "Freedom and peace are within your grasp," Bush said despite scant signs of progress.
BuzzFlash put it a little more succinctly:
"Bush Lectures Arab World on Political Reform." We're All Ears, George.

The fake on the lake
The claim that John McCain is a man of the people
Is hooey that's too much to take
Let's just say that this boast at the end of the day
Is as fake as his artificial lake.
Tony Peyser
Real people who fish don't have private artificial lakes on their 10-acre estates. Real people don't have lakes built for them on their estates. That's left to the elites and the modern day aristocrats. But guess who else has built their own lake to go fishing? John McCain's bff (butt effin' friend? - G) George Bush:
Now, I know the traveling press corps wouldn't ever equate McCain with being rich or elitist. That might make him mad and no one who spends time around McCain wants to evoke his out-of-control temper. And, we know the press types like getting invited to the private estate in Sedona for barbecues.
McCain and Cindy are very, very, very rich people. Very rich. When you own nine homes (or is it ten?), you're among the elite, no matter how you cut it. [...]
A coupla 'comments' from the above article;
Sedona, by the way, is considered the cosmic center of the universe for old school new-agers: chock full of "energy vortexes" and other unholy portals... a veritable playground for Satan-the-Trickster!
Just an aside: In the Navajo culture, and possibly that of the Yavapai folks around Sedona, 'Satan-the-trickster' is also called 'Coyote'. Very apt symbol for McCain. From 'Tricksters':
But Old Man Coyote shakes his head. "These are powerful songs. You can't mess around with these songs. If you want to dance, you're going to have to dance just like I tell you to dance."
"Well okay," them geese agree.
"Keep your eyes closed!" Coyote says, and he hits one of them geese with his sticks. "Wait, stop!" says Coyote. "This here geese opened his eyes and now he's dead! You'd better all keep your eyes closed."
But one old geese, he opens one eye just a peep, and now he sees what's goin' on. "Run away, brothers!" he cries, and off they go — but not before Old Man Coyote fills his belly real good.
"That was sure some good trick," says Coyote, and he goes along his way.
I get carried away sometimes and put things in odd places, but that's the best description of the Repug agenda I've seen in quite a while! Back on track now...
and we all know that the code word "elitist" when referring to African Americans means "uppity".
We just went through Sedona last year, it is rich people mostly. If you aren't, don't know how you survive there. There are rivers and streams there, it's beautiful with the red rock.
I love Sedona. It's a wonderful place to visit, lots to see and do in the area, but it is not exactly typical small-town America.
The 'New-Agers' are called 'Sedona Woo-Woos' by the locals. The locals who actually work in Sedona mostly can't afford to live there and live in Cottonwood and Camp Verde and commute.
I think it is the heighth of arrogance to have a private artificial lake in an arid area like that, which has been in a drought for years like most of the Southwest. It has to be kept filled or it would evaporate. The water could be used for better purposes in a region where residents have gravel for front yards, even paint it green sometimes, instead of lawns.
Just fer fun, go see what passes for a natural 'lake' in that part of Arizona. Heh.
Rich people think they can get away with anything because they can pay for it. Once they get in politics, they get away with all kinds of bizarre shit and make us pay for it after first making sure they're insulated from paying for anything that serves the greater good.
McCain a man of the people, my ass.
Oh, the irony...

By George, I think they're onto something! They just need to work on miniaturization of the components...

Leave the Batteries at Home, This Bra's Solar-Powered!
Gals on the go -- when your cellphone or iPod needs a charge, all you do is step outside in full view of the sun, rip off your blouse and let this dual-purpose wonder bra lift, separate and soak up those rays. Envious onlookers will wonder how you're generating so much energy just by standing there. $125, at all Charge It! stores.

Following up on Fixer's demolition post, look at all the stuff he found in the walls and rafters that he'd forgotten about over the years! I don't know what its R-value is...
Immense Political Rally for Obama in Portland, OR
Being from Jersey City, I'm a political junkie by birth. I have been following politics at one level of intensity or another for most of my life. I can honestly say that I have never, ever seen anything that even approaches this:
JG.
a tip of my Jersey Giants* cap to culture kitchen
*One has to be of a certain age to get that reference. ;)

Or it should be after this weekend.
Been wrecking shit all weekend and I got more to do when I get home from work today. Oy!

Sock puppets ...
Our pal PC has come upon something interesting:
...
Suggestions are made to shower superdelegates with email. Vicious attacks on Democrats and Democratic politicians, and even the small-d democratic process. The disaffected are urged to vote for McCain, harrass Obama supporters, flood their legislators with mail and calls, turn to Faux News for information and shun all other sources.
What do you think? Sounds pretty fishy to me.
...
So what?
Our national embarrassment was in the Middle East for the last couple days, taking the time to kiss Likudnik ass in Israel before making an ass of himself in front of the World Economic Forum.
Just like we have here, right? Bush is just the guy to lecture on human rights and democracy.
Yeah, like rigging the vote, stop-lossing our vets in Iraq, and letting the oil companies gouge us in their rush to accumulate the most profit before a Dem is elected in November. And, speaking of oil, the Chimp went to Saudi to beg for an increase in oil production and they promptly told him to fuck off. And these are our friends in the region?
In other words, it ain't the worldwide demand for oil that's raising prices here, it's the folks who are selling the oil in the US who are driving up prices. You know, the Chimp's cronies.
So now the little bastid is back and what has he accomplished? Nothing. Nothing good comes out of the White House, only fuck ups. Been that way for 8 years.
...
In Egypt, Mr Bush urged Arab leaders to work hard to advance democracy and civil liberties, and to isolate sponsors of terrorism.
He told the World Economic Forum in Sharm el-Sheikh that states needed to diversify their economies, invest in people and extend the reach of freedom.
...

Mr Bush said politics in the region too often "consisted of one leader in power and the opposition in jail" and that the time had come for nations to "abandon these practices, and treat their people with the dignity and respect they deserve".

It was Bush’s second personal appeal this year to King Abdullah, head of the monarchy that rules this desert kingdom that is a longtime prime U.S. ally and home to the world’s largest oil reserves. But Saudi officials stuck to their position that they will only pump more oil into the system when asked to by buyers, something they say is not happening now, the president’s national security adviser told reporters.

Supporting the troops ...
In their usual style. The Chimp threatens to veto the Webb GI Bill when it gets to his desk. Says Sen. Webb:
As opposed to tax breaks and subsidies for the oil companies, right? As opposed to tax cuts for the rich?
... And then we see this president, he’s fine with sending these people over and over again where they’re spending more time in Iraq than they are at home. He’s fine with the notion of stop loss, where we can, we can make people stay in even after enlistments are done. And then we say, “Give them the same benefit that the people in World War II have,” and they say it’s too expensive.

Quote of the Day
Athenae, commenting on the same Poor Man post I did this morning:
...
I think if we weeded out all the things people said over the past years that were complete horseshit, only by identifying the long pause after they said something hateful, much like the space in the script where it says "wait for applause or gasps of amazement at your genius or exclamations of admiration for your courage," we would excise perhaps two-thirds of all commentary ever from the public record.

Satan's Jewel Crown
I spend a lot of time 'auditioning' music videos for the Brain. It's hard work, but someone's gotta do it.
Sometimes I really like a particular artist, or a particular song, or both, but I wonder if they'd be appropriate. On the theory that at least some of us Godless commie fucks maybe ain't, or like this kind of music anyway, I decided to just throw it out there and let you, dear readers, decide. Subtitled for your convenience. Heh.
This is a song about redemption, and I dedicate it to Dick Cheney, for whom there will be no redemption. Wear the crown he gave you all you want while you're here, Dick, 'cuz when you go to your reward and reunite with your soul Ol' Scratch is gonna take it back. Eternal suffering is a small price for you to pay for all the suffering you've caused, asshole.
The guy with the 'Indians' shirt is Dr. John Starling, a former member of the bluegrass super group The Seldom Scene. He quit that to go make a living in his practice, but has returned to music with Carolina Star.
The other gent is Carl Jackson, who is simply the best multiple Grammy winning long-time country music superstar singer/songwriter you've never heard of.

Bush = good. Muslims = evil. The government is owed our unconditional support. It is our duty to defeat the false religions. It’s all sensible because I choose to believe it. I am very brave for saying so. One suspects these few self-evident truths can be repeated at very high volume for long, long periods of time, endurance extended beyond normal human limits by excising any vestigial doubt. This is - minus the charmingly parochial idea that we must wage War on Islam out of a concern for gay rights, obviously - the Republican base, still crazy after all these years.

Update:
Oliver Willis finds the latest incarnation of 'Republican crazy'.
Debbie Schlussel, who is sort of the K-Mart version of Ann Coulter, along with others on the right, is trying to fuel yet another attack on Sen. Obama for his meeting with Imam Hassan Qazwini, a muslim leader in Detroit. Schlussel is one of the reactionary nutjobs on the right and as soon as they see someone who isn’t Christian they automatically assume that they are terrorists. So they tie themselves up in knots, and accuse Obama of meeting with the enemy or some other such nonsense.
...
God, they make it so easy.
...
Using the logic of absolute morons like Debbie Schlussel, we can only surmise that President Bush is a secret agent of Iran who wants to force us to gay marry while converting to Sharia law.
...
Well, he sure has enabled Iran to get more powerful, hasn't he?
