I hate to say it ...

But, as someone who has been in the nuclear field both as a civilian (my dad's business was a testing lab, destructive and non-destructive) and in the military (2 years in SAC, working with nuclear-armed B-52s), word coming out of Japan doesn't sound good.

It's one thing for them to release ionized inert gases (Nitrogen-16) and deal with the consequences of that (shower decom + iodine pills) but when the heavier particles (Cesium isotopes) are released, you know you've got a big problem on your hands. Let's hope the powers-that-be start mandatory evacuations before the aftermath of Hiroshima and Nagasaki become all too real once again.
