In my senior year of high school a bomb was found buried in our baseball diamond. that was in Zweibrucken.
Amazing where they find shit over there. The family home in Hauenstein has a crack running up the wall in the stairway from an Allied artillery shell that landed in the back yard. My grandmother said a few landed in the trout pond behind the house and she doesn't think they all went off. Nobody ever checked. She also threw a bunch of my grandfather's old "war souvenirs" in there so I'd bet there's a few thousand rounds of ammo in there along with what the Allies dropped.
damn.
