The real world ...

Intrudes. Sorry about my absence over the weekend. Dad-in-Law Fixer has taken a turn for the worse (not life threatening, thank god). Those of you who've dealt with caring for a family member with Alzheimer's knows what I'm talking about. He was out of control delusional Friday night, enough to scare the shit out of the health care aide we have for him and they took him to the hospital. He's home now but we're doing interviews with new aides, having to up the level of qualifications to deal with him at this point. We're still trying to keep him in his house (as opposed to putting him in a home) and hopefully we can find someone who can handle him by the end of the week.

While the old man is the last of the parents we have left, we've never had to deal with Alzheimer's (cancer took my parents and the Mrs.' mom) and it's one of the saddest things to see. To see a man who was once the Deputy Comptroller for the City of New York not be able to add 2+2 is heart wrenching.

I'll be in and out but hopefully things'll be back to normal in a couple days.
