Edwards, Shakes, Amanda, Progressive Agenda

The tepid response of the Edwards campaign (an apparently from John Edwards personally) to the brouhaha stirred up by the Catholic League, et al, disappoints me. We need to shove the shit back in the face of the people or it isn't going to stop. Making Shakes and Amanda effectively stand in the corner and effectively apologize for sincerely held opinions is not the way to do it. What, in my opinion, should have happened is that Donohue's record of racist, homophobic, anti-semitic quotes (Example at Crooks & Liars) should have been given the light of day by the Edward's campaign along with the campaign asking the MSM if these are the kind of people that should be given air time and print space. That didn't happen and this whole flap does nothing to disabuse me of the idea that what is really needed, what needs to begin to be built from the scaffolding up is not just a Progressive Movement, but a Progressive Party. Neither of the major parties any longer represent Progressive thinking.
