The House Judiciary Committee has subpoenaed former senior Bush advisor Karl Rove, a panel spokesman tells ABC News.
"Although he does not seem the least bit hesitant to discuss these very issues weekly on cable television and in the print news media, Mr. Rove and his attorney have apparently concluded that a public hearing room would not be appropriate," House Judiciary Committee Chairman John Conyers, D-Mich., said in a statement.
"Unfortunately, I have no choice today but to compel his testimony on these very important matters."
The subpoena calls for Rove to appear before the Commercial and Administrative Law subcommittee at 10:00 a.m. on July 10.
July? Shit, if it was me, I'da had him report right after lunch! If he didn't show up, he'd be there at 8AM tomorrow in irons'n orange.
Rove himself was apparently not available for comment. Too busy tryin' to get aholt of the Chimp for a pardon. Bush is probably hiding from him by being out on the White House lawn not playing golf.
Actually, the July date is OK. We don't want Rove indicted until after 1.20.09, when the 'executive' will be fresh out of 'privilege'.
Update:
Emptywheel's got a good post on this. Thanks, 'Nucks.
