In their blind ardor to impose a particular sectarian moral code on all citizens of the United States, the new Republican majority in the House is pushing a bill (H.R. 3 Text of bill) that would forbid women from using their OWN money to obtain abortion services, at the risk of invalidating their entire employer's health plan. This is outrageous and belies the hypocritical Republican mantra of getting government out of people's lives and their spending choices.
But it gets worse. Representative Mike Pence (R-IN) plans on adding a provision to strip all funding from Planned Parenthood, so that we can have an explosion of unwanted pregnancies and the supplemental budgetary disaster that will be the consequence of that.
Still not venal and mean spirited enough for you? House Appropriations Committee Chairman Hal Rogers (R-KY) is bringing forward a provision to abolish Title X completely, eliminating all basic primary and preventive care, such as lifesaving cancer screenings, contraception, STI testing and treatment, and annual exams, for millions of women all over the country.
This is not just dogmatic, this is all truly sick. And this is NOT what the majority of the American people want. All the while that Republicans like just resigned U.S. House member Christopher Lee are trolling on line for extramarital sex.
Sometimes the throwback right-wing bastards are so despicable it leaves me speechless. They can't get power and control over their own women at home, so they'll try to get it over all women under the law. Real he-men. I think not.
