This Is What Prompted Laurens County’s “Purity Pledge”

Fitsnews - "Unfair. Imbalanced."

An embarrassing (and judging from Google, ongoing) national news story about a Republican “purity pledge” in Laurens County, S.C. had its roots in a small-town affair.
...

So … South Carolina is now the butt of national jokes (again) because a bunch of rural Republicans wanted to prevent the reelection of a philandering cop?

Um … yeah. That pretty much sums it up.

Heh. The population density of Laurens County is 97 people per square mile. Kinda lonely. Anything for a laugh, I guess, even if it's on them.

The Revolutionary War's Battle Of Mud Lick Creek might have been the most interesting thing to have happened there, and they have to share it with neighboring Newberry County.
