There should not be private prisons. Incarceration is the business of the state.

I wonder if we'll ever figure out that the profit motive can be a very corrupting influence, and dangerous to the health of a society. The saying "money is the root of all evil" may be cliched, but it's true.
And that's one reason why certain functions should be run by the government only--to ensure that the eternal chase for the buck doesn't end up destroying society altoghether.
