U.S. decrees that marijuana has no accepted medical use

LATimes

The decision by the DEA comes almost nine years after medical marijuana supporters asked the government to reclassify cannabis to take into account a growing body of research that shows its effectiveness in treating certain diseases.

DEA huh? That's like the Prison Industrial Complex saying that not enough people are being incarcerated for profit. Oh, wait, that's exactly what they're saying.

How 'bout we let the medical people say what the medical benefits are instead of law enforcement whose budget depends on them not knowing/ignoring what's up?

Well, as long as the asses in Washington want to cut waste, here's one agency that could be fired in total tomorrow with no adverse consequences.

I have never used drugs like that ever, but the surgery I had last week gave me some bad news. Day may come when I need something that will ease my days without turning my head into a marshmallow, and the choices I've been invited to explore all have some pretty rough side effects.

But look at the industry that's grown up on either side of the issue.
Any legalisation and existing structures will tumble down like autumn leaves.

The cops seem to treat it like a game, serious, but a game. Around here it's the process rather than the result.
A reporter I know figured that the drug trade in our area would probably be a fraction of what it is if police involvement wasn't a factor. They make their "biggest raid of the year" every month, round up perps by the tens, and then, most of the names disappear from the official records.
He found out that in one "massive" investigation, most of the participants were undercover cops themselves from different agencies (and unknown to each other), and "informants" who had some form of immunity from prosecution.

I live in Altoona, PA home of Harry Anslinger (even know some of his family)the man who did a Prof. Henry Hill, but what Prof. Hill did for poolhalls, Anslinger did for drugs.

And, it turns out ol' Harry supplied certain important people and their associates and families with drugs and shielded them from prosecution because they were "special" and the rules didn't apply to them. Anti-communist work, you know.

Anslinger didn't really care about weed but it inflated his numbers so he went with it.

The medical people use facts and those, of course, are liberal. The people who own the prisons ain't.

Well, now that the DEA has weighed in, we can take it to the Supremes.

Wonder what they'll think?
