Heh. When it comes to Machiavellian machinations we are babes in the woods compared to these people and we are pretty much their patsy - whatever happens, we'll be left holding the bag.

No shit, but we're not that smart. It's more important politically to silence whistleblowers and truthtellers than it is to make good use of them. The 1% rule and they want to keep it that way.

There was once a suspicion that Assange was CIA. That's no longer a suspicion, because it's clear that he's more of a loose cannon than even the CIA would put up with. Which is why Dr. Cole's suggestion wouldn't work -- Assange wouldn't cooperate, *can't* cooperate because he's not built that way, he'd go off and do something that embarrassed the US Government and then have no problem blaming the U.S. government for it.
