Minneapolis ain't NOLA

U.S. Department of Transportation

U.S. Secretary of Transportation Mary Peters Announces $5 Million in Immediate Funding During Visit To Downed I-35 Bridge in Minneapolis

“We are going to make sure that last night’s damage and debris soon become a thing of the past. We will rebuild this bridge and repair this horrible hole in the heart of this community,” Secretary Peters said.

There's a difference in the scale of this disaster vís-a-vís NOLA. While tragic, it may possibly be small enough that even this administration can help without screwing up too badly.

Let us not forget that unlike New Orleans, Minneapolis is full of mostly middle-class white people who are not considered an underclass or systematically prevented from making a good living or voting.
