I'd never heard of the 50-year-old movie "The Exiles" (wiki) until I watched it on TV the other night, IFC or TCM, can't remember which. Dark and worth seeing. Also a damn good look at a pre-high-rise L.A. that I remember well that is long gone. Angels Flight, the 3rd St. tunnel, and City Hall as the tallest building.
