Republican presidential candidate Michele Bachmann said Monday that it would be "foolish" to normalize trade with Cuba because Hezbollah could soon have "missile sites" there.
"Why would you normalize trade with a country that sponsors terror?" the candidate asked a crowd of supporters in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. "There is reports that have come out that Cuba has been working with another terrorist organization called Hezbollah. And Hezbollah is looking at wanting to be part of missile sites in Iran and, of course, when you are 90 miles offshore from Florida, you don’t want to entertain the prospect of hosting bases or sites where Hezbollah could have training camps or perhaps have missile sites or weapons sites in Cuba."

I thought she was going to fade away. I was wrong. She's going to be led away in a canvas jacket with really long sleeves.
I am flummoxed as to why people flock to these wackos. Well, I need to admit that a large percentage of my fellow Americans weren't culled from the brightest stock of their home countries. They may have had chutzpah, but that doesn't equate to being discriminating.
I read a piece yesterday comparing the paleoconservatives to the revivalist movements in the 1930's and '40's. They are awaiting a Rapture, and like all good slaves, prepared to stick out the tough times til their Salvation in few millenia. Oh, wait ... they won't BE here then. I guess they're thinking figuratively.
I thought she was going to fade away.
She's gonna milk it for all it's worth, just like Palin. The two of them can do one thing very well; fleece their gullible supporters to part with their hard earned money.
I found the article: "Why the Antichrist Matters in Politics," fr. the NYT, 9.25.11.
Final statement:
"Barring the rapture, Mrs. Bachmann or Mr. Perry could well ride the apocalyptic anti-statism of conservative Christians into the Oval Office. Indeed, the tribulation may be upon us."

There was some talk on Slate.com about whereas Rick Perry is known as "dumb," Michelle Bachmann is referred to as "crazy," and whether that's "sexism."
But as bone brained as Rick Perry is, he never babbled about Hezbollah terrorist missiles in Cuba, suggested we have NO income tax at all, or hid behind bushes to spy on a gay pride rally.
So, sexism? No. Accurate description? YES....
